A Warm Water Summer

DSC_9717.JPG

I can probably count the times I've trout fished this year on one hand, typically by this time of year I can't even count how many times I've chased trout. This summer has been a little different I've spent less time driving and more time fishing water in my backyard. With the addition of a new baby girl to the family I figured I better make the most out of my time on the water since it would be limited. I explored some new water and new species close to home and I'm glad I did. I've always liked cold clean water and I still do but but clean warm water is right up there after this summer. I say clean by clean I mean clear enough to sight fish. I think I've became a better fisherman because of it, the easiest why to become better at something is to get out and do it whether it's fishing or anything. The white bass have been fun and at times ridiculous, it's fun to have those easy days every now and then. Carp are still tailing and feeding shallow early and late. Summer is towards the end take advantage of it while you can. Here are a couple shad patterns we've been having good luck with, I also added them to the Tying page. They are old classics but fish producers. You can click on the imagines for the instructions.
