We hit a few local waters today in pursuit of the Ole Cyprinus carpio and we got into several. The creek is where it is at, all of our fish came from the creek. It was fairly shaded and the water temps were a little cooler, the local flats have been heating up warmer then bath water and most fish have just been suspended and not overly active. The creek however, fish were happy and aggressive. The fish all came on some sort of crayfish pattern, I primarily fished the Curable Crab. The biggest mystery of the day was where the water in the creek was coming from, if the wind blew right you would get a nice Johnny on the Spot smell. We decided not to investigate because we might not like the result.
If you hit the flats on the lakes go early or late, when the sun has been high the fish have slowed down. Find some shade and a little cooler water you'll find fish. The fish in the flats have been super spooky so lighter flies have been a must. Here are a few more pictures and you can tell who was running the camera.
Have a great and safe Labor Day.
