As you all know, we're pretty adamant about supporting local fly shops here at The Midwest Drift. If you've been following us long enough, you may remember the Carpicide tournament I participated in back in June in Minneapolis. This event was put hosted by Isthmus Fly Fishing at the Mend Provisions shop and I fell in love with the unique layout and gear he had out for sale. Mike, the owner, is an awesome guy who is just as eccentric about targeting certain "roughfish" species as we are. He's also a Scott finatic, so that was also a major selling point. Aside from Mike himself, the Mend shop is by far the most unique I've come across as far as the way it is marketed and advertised to the public. Mend features weekly open tying days, supports events such as Carpicide, and even serves as the venue for live music and parties. It caters to both novice and experienced fly fisherman in that gear carried in store ranges from the bottom of the line to the best of the best. He also carries cool gadgets that aren't necessarily fly fishing related, including unique camping gear, clothing, etc. Mike also does a fantastic job at keeping up with social media, so search for the shop page on Instagram and Twitter! Below is a neat video I found that explains what Mend is all about and how it came to fruition. If you're ever in the Minneapolis area, stop by and say hello!
