Landon and I were able to get out and hit one of our favorite little spring creeks last weekend. It was actually only the second time I've been out in 2015. It was good to be on the water. The weather cooperated and so did the fish. In the morning it was still pretty cold and most fish came off the Loaded Diaper nymph. As temperatures began to rise so did the trout, this is the main reason it's one of our favorite streams. You can count on a hatch, but when and where are the biggest questions. We were in the right place at the right time when the Caddis started coming off. I had to put the camera away and get fishing the window of opportunity to get a bunch of fish to hand on a dry this time of year can be pretty narrow, part because water temperatures change so quick and part because once they get locked in on the naturals it's hard to get them to take a fly at least the bigger fish. The springs were running good and water conditions were excellent, it's time to get the dust knocked off the gear and get out.
