You never know what treasures you might find when you least expect it. Just the other day my wife noticed a small garage sale sign with the words "fishing sale" on it. I'm not much for garage selling but I perked up quick on this one! We pulled up and there I saw two tables in a driveway that resembled a small fly shop. Everything from fly rods to reels, vests, waders, vises and tying materials. It just so happens that I was the first fly fisherman in two days to stop by! Everything was in excellent condition and marked unbelievably cheap. I walked away with a new Ross Gunnison, a 9wt BL5 Winston that still smelled new, a Sage 3wt, G Loomis 4wt and various fly tying materials for under$200!! I couldn believe it then and I'm still in shock 3 days later.
I quickly called Luke and told him to get his ass over there. He walked away with a couple Gunnison's, 3 and 6 wt Sage rods. These items belonged to a fly fisherman that had recently passed, not stolen I promise. Did I mentioned the reels were all lined as well?
Right place, right time and a whole lot of luck that day. Great deals can be found if you just keep your eyes and ears open. You never know what might be in your neighbors garage too. Although, I think we should have bought lottery tickets on that particular day.
