This pattern was designed to be fished when carp are feeding in medium depth to deep water. The head is Tungsten so the fly gets down quick. The negative is that it makes it harder to get a soft presentation. On the other hand, you don't have to figure eight in bead chain eyes... I F'ing hate tying in eyes. This pattern was responsible for my last several fish of the season.
